Breaking News: Fire at Barangka

Black smoke is spotted around 4:30pm beyond the Ateneo campus, near the Riverbanks area. Since I have no confirmed reports yet, we assume it is in Barangay Barangka in Marikina. See pictures below:

Sweet Inspirations

Sweet Inspirations is a restaurant and bakeshop located just in front of the Ateneo campus, on the other side of Katipunan Avenue.

It has been there forever, as I remember it in my high school (or even grade school?) days. I think it’s one of the long-lasting food establishments there along with Cravings.

They have quite a selection of food ranging from Pinoy to Korean to Italian dishes. They have Asian, Italian and other Western food on the menu. Combo meals and merienda meals for the thrifty student are also on the menu, ranging from P80 to P140.

They’ve got good sinigang and bibingka too.

They’ve also got a Mongolian buffet. Although it seems like the regular buffet, they don’t have the look-through glass screen to see the chefs actually cooking your selection. However, they do have a glass display of all their cakes and pastries. Yum! Try out their mud pie and banana cream pie. They’ve got sylvannas and yema too. They also make their own pan de sal along with several other bakery products.

Price Range: P80 to P280 (for a meal/merienda with drinks per head)

88db.com Bloggers’ Party, Apr. 26 ‘08

I’m glad I came to the 88db.com party. As promised, here is my post about this happening event last Apr. 26, 2008 at Katips Bar/Restaurant along Katipunan Ave. It’s a party for bloggers hosted by 88db.com, an online portal for services and products. Ironically, I wasn’t able to post the event earlier… KatipunanQC.com <=> Katips Bar <=> 88db.com Bloggers Night. Duh!

Anyway, it was nice to see familiar faces again, fellow bloggers like Aileen and “sweet”-Jay, Lauren, Vida, Aileen and Rommel. Nice to meet new people too like Winston, Blogie and Joned. Even saw a past student of mine, Jonel. Been a bit busy with maximizing photo ops at the fotoloco booth so wasn’t able to really mingle and go around.

I came as my blog but didn’t win. Guess what my costume was. How will I wear KatipunanQC ba? Since this site is geared towards students with several schools & universities nearby, I went as a student (the Avril Lavigne type accdg to Rommel) with a twist… KatipunanQC.com painted on my leg. I didn’t win. Boohoo. Sony PSP din iyon! Maybe I should’ve come as a street sign instead! Tsk, tsk. Congratulations to chickenmafia.com for winning the 1st prize, a Sony PSP. Runner-ups were batangyagit.com and pinoyblogero.com who both won a spa certificate and a “limited edition” 88db.com mug! *chuckle*
